We are extremely excited to announce a very special guest to grace our stage at this years Taupō Pride Festival will be none other than Richard O’Brien.

Richard is a British-New Zealand actor, writer, musician, and television presenter who has worked for over fifty years in the world of entertainment, his very latest offering being The Kingdon of Bling, a piece written and performed across Aotearoa with all rights conferred to the Starship Children’s Hospital in perpetuity.

However, he is perhaps best known as the author of the book, music and lyrics of The Rocky Horror Show which, since 1973 has remained in continuous production somewhere or other around the world.

He also co-authored the screenplay along with director Jim Sharman for the film adaptation in 1975 and appeared on-screen as Riff Raff.

The film became an international success and has not only received a large cult following but has also become the longest running movie in the entire history of world cinema.

He is deeply loved by his children and his darling wife Sabrina and when scrubbed up and given a bit of TLC, he still manages to look rather good in a frock.
